Tenimento dell'Or

Tenimento dell’Ör is an old wine estate that dates back to the 1700s. It sits in Arzo, a village in Mendrisio. Its southern exposure, with good sunshine and breezes, makes it the ideal location for growing grapes. The vineyard is at an altitude of 460 to 520 metres. It covers 11 hectares, 8 of them planted in vines. The winery is at the foot of Monte San Giorgio and is part of a Unesco registered cultural heritage site thanks to the numerous fossils and archaeological treasures found on the site. The vineyard was completely renovated over the years and today it boasts 28 grape varieties. The renowned ampelographic garden hosts more than 600 grape varieties from throughout the world.
Experimentation has shown some of these to be so valuable that they have been included as part of the winery’s own grapes for wine making.
